about
"Fall" marks the pioneering collaborative effort between producer Trippin Jaguar and composer, singer, and double bassist Benjamin de Boer. Their paths crossed unexpectedly, with Trippin Jaguar's desire to integrate conventional instrumentation and song in his work, and Benjamin's curiosity towards the realm of electronic music, proving to be a rewarding alliance.
Over time, they've teamed up on numerous hybrid projects, engaged in a residency program for artists sponsored the Dutch art and music foundation Voordekunst, and delivered a series of performances. All their initiatives consistently carry a subtle thread of challenging prevailing societal frameworks and current world events.
"Fall" draws inspiration from George Chapman's poem '’The Shadow of Night.'' The verse provides a compelling perspective to interpret our existing societal conditions. It emphasizes that the "night"—representing obstacles, uncertainties, and diversities—shouldn't be evaded or feared. Rather, it should be accepted as an integral part of our mutual pursuit towards enhanced understanding, compassion, and solidarity.
The duo encourages audiences to pause, introspect, and embrace their inner shadows in dance, proposing that it's often in these depths where abundant solutions and healing reside.
lyrics
Fall, Hercules fall, from heaven
And cleanse this beastly stable of a world
Or bend thy brazen bow against the Sun
Thy task of oxen: heat in more extremes
Than thy would suffer
with his envious beams
Now make him leave the world to Night and dreams
Fall, fall
Hercules fall
And leave the world to Night and dreams
Fall, fall
Fall
And leave the world to Night and dreams
Never were virtue's labours so envied
As in this light
Shine and bend their pride
Shine, shine and bend their pride
Fall, fall, fall
Fall, from heaven
To this beastly stable of a world
Or bend thy brazen bow against the Sun
Thy task of oxen
Thy task of oxen
Thy, thy, thy,
Die, die, die
Rich tapered sanctuary of the blest,
Palace of Ruth,
made all of tears, and rest
To thy black shades and desolation
I consecrate my life
and living moan
